2D barcodes: Good to know
Given that over the last few years most manufacturers have been equipping their devices (hand-held scanners, mobile data collection devices etc.) almost exclusively with 2D scanning engines, it raises the question as to whether you still use 1D imagers or laser scanners at your facility at all.
"QR" stands for "Quick Readable". This two-dimensional QR code has been specifically developed for mobile phone cameras so that the codes can also be scanned quickly and easily using commercial devices, almost anywhere. When it comes to professional use with industrial devices, we recommend the Data Matrix code. It is much more compact.
Good to know: The benefits of two-dimensionality in a nutshell:
1. They are much more compact than 1D codes. As a result, more characters/data can be coded on a smaller area.
2. The 2D codes have a certain redundancy which makes it possible for the 100 % of the content to be scanned, even if different modules are faulty or even missing.
3. In general, 2D scanners can also read 1D codes. This is referred to as an image-based scanning process.
4. Most 2D imagers have an aimer which you can set so that the code is only scanned when the aimer comes into contact with it.
The same content is coded in all three examples: https://www.circlon.de
