In September, Circlon | tcg staged a workshop for administrators and project managers on the topic of Wi-Fi – it was a complete success according to the participants and manufacturers.

The event, which took place in September in the exclusive British setting of the Hamburg hotel "The George", offered 15 participants from the Circlon | tcg customer base a practical hands-on training session and an opportunity for intensive networking, particularly during the evening programme in the classy restaurant Casa di Roma – a perfect venue for informal interchanges.

The participants' backgrounds reflect the diversity of the business sectors and range of topics Circlon | tcg engages in. The guests came for example from the Canadian EMM (Enterprise Mobility Management) specialist SOTI, from the plant manufacturer Big Dutchman, from the retail company Gebr. Heinemann, from the clothing manufacturer Roy Robson Fashion and from the networking company Extreme Networks.

Realistic and high practical relevance

During the workshop, Timo Sass, team leader Technical Consulting at Circlon | tcg, explained the installation and configuration of a RADIUS server for user-based Wi-Fi authentication, including the extension for authentication via certificates. In addition, topics ranging from the use of the public key infrastructure (PKI) through to the deployment of client certificates via MDM (Mobile Device Management) solutions were discussed. The focus in each case was on state-of-the-art solutions and their security, e.g. with WPA2 encryption, in addition to user-based accesses and firewalls. The selection of topics and exercises were not only presented from the theoretical side, but also implemented by each participant within their own test environment. The workshop lived up entirely to expectations and requirements of the participants. One advantage of this approach was that the customers acquired a live environment, which they were also able to use in their own companies for further tests and demonstrations.

Shared knowledge equals double success

Jan Neumann, IT administrator at Roy Robson Fashion for example said: "We found the workshop highly informative – individual requirements were taken into account and we dealt with many points we were not familiar with."  Similar positive comments were also expressed by Yang Ro, Sales Engineer at SOTI in Germany: "The workshop was a success in every respect and also unique, because the focus was not on the sales perspective here, but instead we worked on finding realistic solutions within a practical context."

Timo Sass is delighted that the concept is proving effective and that the technical workshop without marketing presentations is so well received. "We like to share well-found knowledge in the workshops. Our aim here is to impress participants with know-how, as opposed to spouting the usual buzzwords and advertising slogans. Inversely, sharing information helps us to improve our services, since we gain a detailed understanding of our customers' needs. Added to this, you have the exchange of ideas amongst the participants, which enhances the quality of the results for everyone."

Expertise from the experts

Circlon | tcg has, like virtually no other company, in-depth knowledge of stable and secure Wi-Fi solutions. The experts for wireless infrastructure and mobile device management understand the complex practical requirements and, with the aid of smart technologies, offer support along the entire process chain – also with customised mobile device management solutions. The Wi-Fi workshop in Hamburg, the high quality content, the expertise of the participants and their feedback underscore this claim.
